Each month we will describe some books we have read. This month instead of biting into a book we invite you to read our reviews and sample some live performances. “Ben Carson, M.D.” is a play that tells about the life of Ben Carson, a famous neurosurgeon. It starts with his childhood and the struggles he had growing up. In the first scene Ben is a teenager and tries to stab his best friend with a knife because he got mad. Luckily his friend wore a big belt buckle that day, which both stopped and broke the knife. Ben was angry a lot. His grades were terrible. His father had abandoned the family and Ben did not know why. His mother had to work long hours and barely made enough money to support him and his brother. This is a fascinating story of how Ben overcame his bad temper, bad grades and difficult life and became a world famous neurosurgeon, who was able to successfully separate Siamese twins in an operation no one had ever done before.
It’s a good play that engages the audience. Watching it, you can really understand the problems he had. The story of how Ben Carson became a successful doctor and overcame racism, even though people said that he wouldn’t be able to, is inspirational, and has a big effect on anyone who watches this play. “Ben Carson, M.D.” is a good play and anyone who has the opportunity should watch it.

Blue Man Group is a stage show with three men who love to mix science and creativity. Only one thing – the men don’t talk and their faces are painted blue. They are full of curiosity and excitement and love participation from the audience. But watch out! Things could get messy!
The three men communicate with each other in a whole new way -- eye motions. They work as a team to create projects such as glob statues. One man throws what appears to be marshmallows into another’s mouth over and over again. In the end, the catcher empties his mouth leaving behind a huge white glob statue. It was really cream cheese!
During the show, two big boards display quick moving information about the human body. For example, if the blue men are about to do a skit about vision, the boards start to blab facts about vision.
Blue Man Group is a fun-to-go-to, inspirational, great-for-family show that I would definitely recommend for all ages. Here are some ratings. The stars indicate my opinion.…
Blue Man Group will be playing in Washington D.C. at the Warner Theatre from March 23 – April 3. You can go to their website at: www.blueman.com/app/webroot/nationaltour/ to find out more about their national tour.
