Each month we will describe some books we have read. This month instead of biting into a book we invite you to read our reviews and sample some live performances. The Graveyard Book is a haunting but wonderful book. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. It’s like the Jungle Book, but in a graveyard.
Nobody Owens was raised in a graveyard because his parents were murdered when he was a baby. Within the graveyard, Bod, as his friends call him, is safe from the outside world. But if he ever leaves the front gates, he’s in danger from the mysterious man, Jack. This is a really good book. Bod grows up throughout the course of the story, and he meets all the people in the graveyard. Each chapter is like a story unto itself. Even though most of the characters are ghosts and monsters, this is not a scary book. I would recommend it to anyone.
This book is TOP SECRET. I can’t tell you that the names of the characters are Cass and Max-Earnest. I can’t tell you that they find the mysterious Symphony of Smells, which gets them mixed up with the death of an old magician. I can’t tell you that the heroes must face the terrible Dr. L and Ms. Mauvais and their evil band of alchemists. I can’t even tell you that this is an exciting, terrific book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Darn! I gave everything away. Now I bet you want to read this book. I’m warning you though; it will put you in danger!
