Hi Everyone:
Please write to "Dear Beth" at passion2build@comcast.net and let me know what you think of our kidundrum—have you had this situation in the past, and if so, what did you do about it? I would really be interested in hearing how you solved the problem, and will add as many of your ideas to this page as we can.

To Trick or Treat or Not to Trick or Treat
Dear Beth,
I go trick-or-treating every year, but I am 12 now, so my parents think I’m too old to trick or treat. Could you give me some ideas to help me convince my parents to let me go trick-or-treating this year? Thanks!
Sincerely,
I Want Candy
Beth

Dear I Want Candy,
I think if you want to go trick-or-treating you should be able to. First, you should ask your friends and see if they are going trick-or-treating. Then, you could ask your parents if you could go with a friend. Then, you could suggest that you go around just to your immediate neighbors. If all else fails, you can just ask your parents to buy you candy or you could buy your own candy! It’s also important that you tell your parent how much you enjoy the holiday and celebrating Halloween. How about helping with a younger sibling or a neighbor’s smaller child? Don’t forget that all kids need a decent costume to deserve handouts!
Good luck,
Beth
