On a normal day an average of 5.5 million pints of Guinness beer are consumed. However, on Saint Patrick’s Day, 13 million pints are consumed; this is almost triple the normal amount.

While the myth says that Saint Patrick banished snakes from Ireland, it has been proven that there were never any snakes there in the first place.

While green is a symbolic color of Saint Patrick’s Day, because of the shamrock the Saint supposedly used, the original color used to represent the Saint was blue.

A humorous but wise Irish toast for Saint Patrick’s Day says, “May the roof above us never fall in, and we friends beneath it never fall out”.

According to legend, Saint Patrick will be the judge for all Irish people on Judgment Day.

The day on which Saint Patrick supposedly died, March 17, 417 AD, has been made an Irish holiday as well as Saint Patrick’s Day itself.

Saint Patrick was not really Irish. Instead, he was born in Britain.

Saint’s Patrick’s name at birth was Maewyn.

Another humorous Irish toast for Saint Patrick’s Day says,
“St. Patrick was a gentleman, who thru strategy and stealth
Drove all the snakes from Ireland, Here's a toasting his health
But not too many lest you lose yourself and then
You forget the good St. Patrick and see those snakes again.”
