Tired of going to the same old places? KidzPost kids are exploring Washington D.C., Baltimore, and everything in between looking for fun experiences and inspiration for our web magazine. Check this page each issue to find out what we discovered. Send in your comments to "Dear Avery" at passion2build@comcast.net if you have also been to the places we write about, or if you want to suggest a cool place for us to go.
•The San Francisco Bay Bridge and area landmarks made
out of 100,000 toothpicks, complete with a maze that you can roll a ping pong ball through.
•2D artwork that becomes 3D when you put glasses on.
•Paper plates that have been transformed into an eye popping picture.
•Owl portraits made out of bottle caps.
This magic can be seen at the American Visionary Art Museum’s new exhibit:
The Museum says this exhibit is a “call to awareness of the circular and voluptuous nature of life.” (Visionary Art Museum website) Or you might say, what goes around comes around. Or, life is roundly luxurious.
There is artwork from centuries ago, and from current artists, from professional and amateur artists, and from both well known and unknown artists. You are guaranteed to be amazed and inspired, and who knows what your inner artist will be moved to create!
They also have permanent exhibits, including a whole bunch of little scenes where you
push a button and figures come to life. In one scene men and horses come alive and gallop
seriously into nowhere!
You might say the Museum continues outside with a garden and huge, funky structures. KidzPost staff visited the Museum in October and really you should just go check it out for yourself. We guarantee it will be the most unusual and fun Museum you ever laid your ROUND eyes on!
"Now listen here, young man, you need to stop your seriousness and turn your life AROUND!"
