You have probably heard the expression, "A picture is worth 1000 words." Poetry is a method where we use a few "word pictures" to tell a larger story. Each month we will feature a theme and will print as many of your poems and pictures as we can.

There was a dog named Marty
He went to go to a party.
He wanted some cake
But ate a snake.
He thought he was such a smarty!
Remember the picture below from last time? We asked for limericks to describe what is going on in the picture. Here are some of your poems, and some of ours as well.
Bailey
The dog went to the table.
His owners put him in the horse stable.
All he wanted was a cookie
But he was only a rookie
And he ran away to live with his friend, Mable.
Stephen
The dog is on fire!
He just got hired
So he wanted a cookie
Which he tookie.
And then he retired.
Bryan
The dog was a hog,
He liked to chew on logs.
He wanted a cookie
So he asked bookie
And then flew away on his frogs.
Zoe

He wanted to have a lookie.
So he took whip cream
He spread it from middle to seam
As he ate it he began to hiccuppie.
Rosa
There once was a dog on a table.
He wondered, “Is this table quite stable?”
He wanted a cake
But the cake was a fake.
His story is really a fable.
Rosa (again)
Dog wanted cookies, cake and cream.
The wanting of cake made him scream.
The cake had good icing,
But the cream had high pricing
So he settled for cookies, sans cream.
Carly
The dog is feeling sneaky.
He doesn’t want to look geeky.
He takes a cookie to eat
Then dances to the beat
He gets caught, then feels so bleachy.
Avery
The dog was very curious
And quite delirious
When he ate the cookie he was behaving
But he ate more because of the craving.
Unfortunately the baker was furious!
Kate
The dog smelled a cookie,
He decided to take a lookie
The cookies were yummy
There was a growl in his tummy
And so he just tookie.
